About

About Me

Hello and welcome! I'm delighted to share a bit about myself. I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) who's deeply committed to transforming the world of mental health care. With a diverse background spanning seven years in nursing, I've had the privilege of working in various healthcare settings, including mental health, medical and neuro intensive care units, and providing care to breast cancer patients.
Hailing from the heart of West Texas, I grew up in a small town that instilled in me the values of community and empathy. I pursued my education at Texas Tech, where I earned my BSN, and later advanced my expertise by completing my masters at Texas State University.

It can manifest in various forms, impacting thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations. Individuals with anxiety often experience excessive worry and discomfort, which can interfere with daily functioning and well-being.

Depression

Depression is a multifaceted mental health condition marked by persistent feelings of sadness, emptiness, and a lack of interest or pleasure in activities. It can affect thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, often leading to changes in appetite, sleep patterns, and concentration. Individuals with depression may struggle with daily functioning and experience a sense of hopelessness.

Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar disorder, also known as manic-depressive illness, is a mental health condition characterized by extreme mood swings that encompass periods of intense mania and episodes of depression. These mood shifts can significantly impact a person's energy levels, behavior, and decision-making. They can manifest as restrictive eating, binge eating, or purging behaviors, leading to severe physical and emotional consequences. Treating eating disorders typically involves a combination of therapy, medical intervention, and support to address underlying psychological factors and promote healthier behaviors.

PTSD

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition triggered by experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. It involves persistent symptoms such as flashbacks, nightmares, hypervigilance, and avoidance behaviors. Individuals with PTSD may struggle to cope with the aftermath of trauma, impacting their daily lives and overall well-being.
